About The Event

The Veterans Business Council is dedicated to helping build a vibrant and prosperous business community for all Veterans and Veteran Owned-Businesses in Southwest Florida.

January's meeting will feature Mark Odell, a Government Contracting Procurement Specialist for the Florida Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) at Florida Gulf Coast University. In this capacity, he consults existing businesses interested in obtaining contracts to sell their goods/services with the Department of Defense (DoD), other federal agencies, state and local government agencies and prime government contractors.

“Government agencies buy everything from missile parts to toothpaste,” Odell said. “My role is to educate and promote to our region’s small business community that we can help grow and diversify their business and walk them through the steps to help them succeed”. Some of these steps include:

  • Obtaining necessary registrations (Federal/State/Local)
  • Cybersecurity compliance
  • Bid/proposal development
  • Cost analysis
  • Networking
  • Contract administration and performance

“In my role here at FGCU, I enjoy shortening the regulatory llearning curvefor our clients and providing the guidance that I wish was available when I was starting out years ago”, Odell concluded.

You're invited to make new connections, share your professional insights and learn more about local organizations that can take your business to the next level.
