Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day Locally

Annually on February 17, Random Acts of Kindness Day is a day to celebrate and encourage random acts of kindness. Whether that’s by smiling at a stranger, complimenting a friend or buying the person’s coffee behind you in line, there are many ways to spread kindness on this special day. And who better to pay it forward to than the local nonprofits and educational organizations?

The David Lawrence Center’s mission is to provide lifesaving and life-changing behavioral health care through education, prevention, intervention and treatment available to all. You can spread kindness to DLC by giving back through a donation or by supporting their mission, programs and through volunteer work. More information can be found on the DLC website.

Pelican Landing Community Associations, Inc. spreads kindness to its constituents each day in the form of a gorgeous place to call home. Lush landscaping, cypress hammocks, protected wildlife areas, pristine wetlands and winding roadways shaded by canopies of mature palms and native oaks are integral to Pelican Landing’s design.

Royal Palm Academy partners with families to provide an education of rich academics with Catholic formation. They teach the mind, educate the heart and form the character of tomorrow's leaders. There are several ways to spread kindness to Royal Palm Academy, including supporting an upcoming event or by making a gift to their King’s Campaign Annual Appeal.

Rasmussen University doesn’t just spread kindness on one day but has been preparing students to succeed for the last century. Consider supporting the university’s goal to give students a better education by learning more about the organization and their plans for the next 100 years.

Pelican Colony Learning Center spreads kindness through education, and their mission is to serve the children, families and the community in a manner that respects the cultural diversity of each family and developmental needs of every child. Early childhood education is the foundation of our future and are committed to providing each child with educationally challenging and rewarding early childhood experience.

Lastly, Florida SouthWestern State College’s mission is to inspire learning; prepare a diverse population for creative and responsible participation in a global society and serve as a leader for intellectual, economic and cultural awareness in the community. You can support their mission – and spread kindness – by contributing to the organization’s scholarships.
