Organization Overview
Nile Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit organization established in 2020 and is based here in Southwest Florida. Our mission is to provide access to education and clean drinkable water to improve the quality of life for people living in Northern Uganda. Our programs are education, clean water access, and community empowerment.
In the village of Got-Olal, located in Pader District in Northern Uganda, we have built 2 spring wells and a borehole to provide the community access to clean water. This village with a population of approximately 2500 people who are predominantly small scale farmers with an average annual income of $180 does not have a school. Young children have to walk 5-7 miles in any direction to access any school. Nile Heritage Foundation is building a self-sustaining school in Got-Olal village to educate Pre-Kindergarten to 7th grade. Construction started May 2024 for 3 classrooms, so far, to accommodate Pre-Kindergarten to 3rd Grade. Once completed, the school will have an average enrollment of over 500 students, provide skilled and unskilled employment to residents in Got-Olal village and neighboring communities, and implement the use of renewable energy such as biogas and solar to the community.
Additionally, we have collaborated with community members and local leaders in the village to establish 2 vocational training programs in seamstress work and masonry. These programs are poised to increase earnings in the village and grow the communities economy in order to improve overall quality of life.
Got-Olal Village is our model. There are many areas in Northern Uganda were people are suffering from existential effects of poverty, climate change, and lack access to resources that will help them live life to their fullest potential. Through our programs, we are determined to positively impact lives and decrease poverty one village at time! Humanity is calling, please join us!
