Community Cooperative establishes Hurricane Ian relief fund

The local nonprofit provides emergency food assistance, Meals on Wheels and other services for the hungry and homeless in Southwest Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2022) – Lee County Strong, an emergency relief fund to address the devastation to Southwest Florida from Hurricane Ian, has been established by Community Cooperative, the boots-on-the-ground, 37-year-old nonprofit that provides emergency groceries, hot food, social services as well as Meals on Wheels food and mobile food pantry deliveries throughout Lee and North Collier County.

Financial donations can be made at communitycooperative.com/home/leecountystrong to support ongoing relief efforts and direct assistance funds to help those impacted by the storm. Through community financial support and volunteers, Community Cooperative has helped the community throughout crises including Hurricane Irma and COVID-19.

“We are absolutely heartbroken over the devastation and destruction in our community,” said Stefanie Edwards, CEO. “Community Cooperative will be here to help those impacted in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian and help them rebuild their lives during recovery.”
